I have just started in C and image processing. Do you guys know how to change a grayscale image into binary format?

Not really sure what you are looking for here. There are a ton of different image file formats, and many can store greyscale or colour. And "binary" is just the series of 1s and 0s; really when you get right down to it, that's how all files are stored.

Do you mean monochrome rather than binary? And what file format are you dealing with?

Well, a shade of grey is mostly a number between 0 and 255. But if u really want binary u can write some binary reading -> writing code.
