If you are talking about comparing two separate thumb prints scanned by a thumb scanner, you will simply have to compare certain patterns in the thumb print to determine if the person is who they are.

Ever watch some show like CSI where they run a print through their archives and when they match shows they point out something like 6-11 special features of the print that only one person would match?

This sort of thing has some complex algorithms to identify patterns like Ridge Endings, Bifurcations, Deltas, and Cores. Start with first how you identify these features and then it is just a matter of putting in the appropriate image recognition algorithms.

Good luck to you and your project. smile.gif
