I would like to thank everyone for their help in this forum.
-or should i say lack there-of.
It is obvious to me that there is some bias on this site when someone can not even post code in their question and get 2 pages of responses with written code inserted and other people who do the same get the same cookie cutter response of the good faith effort policy. I'm sorry that some of you people lost track of why you really joined: To help fellow coders out.
That's ok. I'll take my questions else where. Maybe i will actually get one of them answered.

GetThatFooty, there is no bias on this forum that I know of. I apologize if I didn't get to your question in "your time frame", I am but 1 person and can only do so much. I do my best to answer as many questions as I can, and to the best of my ability. And yes, when someone wants code or help and hasn't shown an effort to solve their problem I give them all the same response, which is basically you need to do the work and show what you have tried before I will help. Thats not my policy, it is Dream.In.Code's policy.

I have seen members try to help you and get nothing but grief from you. Once you start doing that, it makes it hard for anyone to get excited about helping you. Now I know you're going to deny that, but I have personally seen it. We all have full lives here, trying to juggle school, work, family and time on Dream.In.Code. Sometimes it can take a couple days to get an answer, if I run into a complex question I research and try things before providing help. But when the member starts getting hasty because they haven't got a reply in their time frame then I immediately stop on that problem.

No one wants you to leave Dream.In.Code, quite the opposite in fact. But you need to remember we're not here to be at your beckon call.

Case and point:
http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/showtopic45031.htm

Within my time frame? How about at all?

Thanks for responding but i got help elsewhere and if i hadn't said anything it would have been never answered. How much research did it take to tell me to take out '&'? I realize you do what you can but it seems ridiculous that he gets that kind of support and people provide little to none to other people. Now, i thought that maybe my Q's were not being answered because i didn't contribute enough. so i made links on 2 of my websites and tried to help out on simple Q's so other people wouldn't have to and i even messaged skyhawk and offered to write tuts on Video editing on all applications, with no response. evidently that wasn't the problem.

That issue w/ Louis16th was resolved when it happened in forum. I also messaged him privately and apologized and he has helped me since. Please do not try to stretch one instance over every time i post.

at this moment 3 guests are reading this topic. Is this really the kind of feed back you want when people come to check out the forum?

No one wants me to leave... except for me.

Nice site. Just not for me.

You know what, if a thread is 5 or 10 threads down I might not get to it. When I log in the AM I start at the top then work my way down. I have 5 forums to check so it takes time for me to get my way down the list. If you're too impatient for that then I'm sorry, I'm not here to be at your beckon call.

If thats not good enough for you then I am sorry. If I see a post has at least 1 reply chances are I will skip over it and go to the one with 0 posts. Then if I have the time in that day I will read through the ones that have a small number of replies.

I don't even know why I'm taking the time to explain this to you, I don't have anything to prove to you, but I do want you to know how whiny this makes you look. If our best isn't good enough for you, if you don't have the patience to wait (or research the issue yourself, Ive seen you take a reply then if there is a single, small error you want someone to fix it) then maybe programming really isn't for you.

Just my 2¢

P.S: The issue with Louisda16th isn't resolved. If you will look at that thread he's still having errors, but he isn't bumping his topic daily, he is actually taking the time to try and resolve it for himself

Well not all of my questions were completely answered either. But keep in mind that not everyone will come running to your beckon call. On all of your posts I seen responses such as it will take a little research I will look at it when I can or attempts on helping you.

You did however manage to accomplish something very important and for that I appraise you. You used your knowledge to seek help on your own using multiple sources. If everyone was as creative as that, this world would be a better place. Dream.In.Code is a great resource for learning and receiving help. The INTERNET is a great resource to accomplish any task. Combine the two sources and throw in a few manuals and guide books and you are well on your way.

See ya around the forums!

No I'm not talking about that i'm talking about when i snapped at him. But i'm glad to see that after 5-10 posts you still seem to gravitate to that thread to help. But you're right there is no bias and I'm just whiny.

You should earn 2 cents before you spend it.

GetThatFooty in short: I think you were simply unlucky.

First of all, I don't know why are you aiming your posts at Psycho. If it is not because he was the first to reply you here, then I think it is really rude to complain him for the lack of help. He is one of the most active members right now, most of all in helping others, and also in writing tutorials and submitting snippets. All of us have preferences in questions we are more likely to dig into: I usually don't have time to troubleshoot GUI problems, and just as Psycho I am likely to skip topics with a few replies with the rare exception when I have a lot of time. Sometimes it takes time until somebody who is interested in your problem turns up. Also, it is likely to happen, that we will prioritize questions of more established members for several reasons: it is likely, that it holds more challenge, we might have been helped by him already, it might be granted that he has really tried his best so far, and not asking because he is simply lazy, etc.
Since we don't get payed here, we donate our free time for fun, so let us keep the right to choose and prioritize between questions.
I am not begging you to stay, just wanted to show you the other side (that might not have been impossible to imagine by yourself), so you could see why others find your reasoning childish.

hey get that footy.

please leave.'

- the capty

to everyone else :
stop trying to convince him you care or to get him to stay,
obviously the site is run by a group of users who are only helping themselves out and thats why in the past year it has doubled in size.

the programmers on this site are knowledgeable, quality, courteous, and work during the day, and do have some sickness that makes them help people on the forum when they should be doing better things like taking care of their kids.

grow up.

I'm sorry but I earn quite a bit more than 2¢, not that it really matter I'm pretty sure I earn more than anyone I know, that just comes with my time in the industry. Do I think you're being petty, yes I do, do I think you're being childish, yes I do. So if you want to start insulting me regarding pay, then you must know that I earn in excess of $85,000 a year plus bonuses, but I don't see how thats relevant to this discussion.

If I skip over your thread because it has at least 1 reply get over it. If I dont get to your post the day you make it get over it. I mean in your one thread it was as simple as removing the < and > from the path of your template, can you tell me why you couldn't have solved that on your own. Can you tell me why you couldn't type the error message into Google and find it as I did?

If you're not willing to help yourself how do you expect others to want to help you? Do I at times help those members I know for a fact have tried every possible resource to solve their problem, who have a track record of exhausting ideas and possible solutions, yes I do, because I'm more motivated to help people who are willing to put forth the time and effort to solve a problem.

I was talking figuratively about the 2 cents not actual 2 cents.
But i'm glad to see that you are all so quick to belittle me about your financial power when you know nothing about my financial state.

Thank you 1lacca for telling as it actually is.

I'll gladly leave.
