You may have noticed a new feature here at Dream.In.Code. At the bottom of each post is a new link that says "This Post Was Helpful!". Clicking it takes you to a page where you can say "Thanks" or leave a friendly comment for the poster.

Users with "Thanks" will have a new number above their kudos in every post. Every "Thank You" is logged and will soon be available for you (and everyone else) to see.

So if someone posted something that helped you out, or you found it to be insightful... click "This Post Was Helpful" and give them a pat on the back!

This is a beta feature at the moment and while I plan on keeping it, any abuse will not be tolerated and I will move quickly to disable it through the algorithm I'm using.

Keep the comments friendly, and share the love.

Sorry if I seem like a whiny bitch (i really do love new features! biggrin.gif ), but would it be possible to change the icon of the post marked helpful to a green tick or thumbs up and/or change the icon of the topic to show there has been a helpful reply in the topic?

I'm really just copying these ideas from the MSDN forums, but I really like them to say the least. I really like how the site has been getting some great new features targeting helpers. Any sort of motivation is great for the site and will credit those that don't submit tutorials / snippets but help out often.

Keep up the excellent work!

If things go well and people use the system correctly (and don't abuse it or not use it at all) I will be adding some more features including flags in posts and the ability to view your "thanks"

good feature..
I guess I suggested this a long time back..

Just noticed one thing..
can't the thanking procedure be ajax..
Its difficult to click on the ensuing 2 buttons to thank one.

Love the new feature, but I've got one thing to point out:
I had an email letting me know that I'd been thanked, and this is exactly how it looked:
QUOTE
Delta_Echo just thanked you for <a href='http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=53737&view=findpost&p=363953'>this</a> post!<br><br>
I use hotmail, so I was quite surprised to see it (I thought hotmail used HTML...?)

I don't know if there's anything you can do about it, just thought I'd point it out smile.gif

Keep up the good work icon_up.gif

<RANT>
I was wondering how long it would take for people to start putting "If you find this useful click the "This post was helpful" link for me". If people (they know who they are) are helping people just for feedback like that then, in my opinion, they are helping for all the wrong reasons

I like awards and shit, how wrong is that? smile.gif

Seems like a good incentive to help, although that is not the sole reason for helping.
