Well, when I complete this SnippetKeeper program that Ive been working on (I get to work it for like an hour a day or so lol) I'm thinking of creating my own, open source .Net Blog/Forum Framework. I have a few things mapped out that I would want it to include, but this is a fairly large undertaking so I was kind of looking for a couple good C# coders (that I know and trust from here at DIC) that might want to jump on board and help create it.

I will be setting up either a CodePlex or SourceForge Account for the project, we can use TortoiseSVN for the source control aspect of the code check-ins and tracking. There are many of these out there in PHP, but not as many in .Net/C# so I think I would like to break into that niche.

I'll post more tomorrow on my idea and the kind of functionality I was thinking about (need sleep in order to tackle that part lol). Any takers on creating something big, that may take a while to develop. Since it's open source we wont really make much $$ off of it, but it's definitely good for experience and your resume. Let me know if this is something that may interest you smile.gif

I'm quite new to C# but I'd be really interested in joining in smile.gif

I don't know how much help I'd be, but I seem to have picked it up pretty quickly so far wink2.gif

haha, I was thinking about that earlier~

I suck at coming up with names tongue.gif

I tend to name stuff when it's (nearly) finished. Otherwise I end up with names like "The Snippet Manager" laugh.gif

That sounds interesting... I'd join but I'm quit busy until say November. I've also been in Java land as of late, but it shouldn't be that difficult to move back. I'll check to see where you guys are in a couple of months and see if I can lend a hand then.

@skaoth: Would love to have you on board. Will put you in a holding pattern for the meantime, but remember you're always welcome.

@gabehabe: I landed on the name UltraBlog, because we are ultra coders who are creating a new blog engine in managed C# code.

Ive got about 355+ lines written in a string utilities helper class. I almost have the project structure I'd like to see this carry. Once I get that down in my head, and on paper of course, Ill post it here for you to preview and tell me what you think. So, UltraBlog is it!

I'm not nearly as good as you are, but it sounds like an interesting project and I'd love to help.

I have a couple of exams in the next few days so I can help from next week onwards.

Well I've created a Source Forge account and project, once it's approved by them I'll provide you the info. Once it's approved I can add you two as developers, but you need to have a Source Forge account. Once it's approved I'll PM both of you for the information

The UltraBlog SourceForge Project was approved! gabehabe & b2c if you will PM me with your SourceForge account details so I can add you to the list of developers then I'll get that piece completed.

Once that is done I will work on setting up a CVS Repository for the code, most likely using TortoiseSVN as the client
