Thought this might be interesting for the computer scientists among you (including me)...apparently stanford will be posting all their course content online for the entire public, included is robotics.

Was just coming here to post this story. smile.gif

If it's anything like the offering MIT made a few years back with OpenCourseWare then it should be quite useful. Although, I would like it if MIT had more courses with the lecture videos, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Nice find.

Would anyone be interested in forming a study group to compare notes, help each other out if we get stuck? Or juts general discussion of the material provided?

I already have a study group, its called DIC! biggrin.gif

Yeah that could be a good idea, I'm in full school time at the moment so wouldn't really be able to participate!

Of course it would be creating threads on DIC! But it would be nice to go to people following the same coursework to discuss problems with in a thread where everyone is on the same page.

I've read /. since about 1999, but I wouldn't call myself a Slashdotter. I gave up on any intelligent life a /. years ago when I used to read the comments, which are less than worthless. Also, they often take websites down or make it unbearably slow when a story is posted and everyone swarms it (aka slashdot effect). But the news headlines usually have some good info. smile.gif

Yeah I don't usually comment but most of the stories posted are of some interest; digg also suffers from the same effect.

People on /. and places like that suffer from a mass delusion that anyone gives a **** what they have to say about these stories. smile.gif This need to comment on stories has caught newspaper's attention and many online editions have comments sections after stories. But I can tell you, from working in the industry, no one from the newspaper actually reads the comments. They really don't care what these people say, but it attracts certain readers who actually believe that they are being heard, or even more outlandishly, that they are contributing. At least at a place like DIC, where making posts (comments) is the main focus, you can be assured that maybe someone will actually read your comments. Now, whether they give a **** is another story. smile.gif
