I'm coding this template for a friend, from his psd, and it works fine on all Windows machines that I've tested it on so far but not on the linux ones. Here's the tests done:

1. Windows XP 17x17 monitor - works fine
2. Windows Vista 22x22 monitor - works fine
3. Windows XP 19x19 monitor - works fine)
4. Ubuntu 16x16 monitor (i think that's the size not sure, it a laptop) - the centered text looks messed up
5. Ubuntu 19x19 monitor - the centered text looks messed up

Can you guys look at it and maybe if you can tell me what's wrong. If you don't know html/css just look at it please and tell me your OS, monitor size, does it look fine or not. I set up an apache web server at this IP: 24.99.43.122 and put it there so u guys can see it. Any help is appreciated.

Monitor size should be basically meaningless, it's screen resolution that's the factor. Also, while OS is a factor, it's the browser type the plays the key role.

One the page... Um, font tags have been dead for nearly a decade, I think. Also, absolute positioning should probably be avoided. You say you're page is xhtml, but it fails on a number of points. Notably table height is invalid, which could be an issue. You also have a lot of dangling divs. A validator can help with this, e.g: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2F24.99.43.122

This is what it looks like on "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008072820 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.1 (Linux Mint)"

Hope this helps.

yeah, like he said, a. measuring a monitor doesn't do you anything. and b. monitors are measured diagonally anyways

mine is more butchered than baavgai's the content is pushing out of the background as is the navigation on the bottom.

also you didn't mention what browser you are using, which if you tested on a windows pc and linux your not using the same browser unless your running firefox.

i'm using google chrome on xp.

well it was tested in firefox on all the machines and it seemed that it only worked on the windows machines, i'll try fixing everything the validator found invalid but will that fix it?

ohh yeah a friend just tested it in IE and the text is fine but it's not centering it but that' s cause IE doesn't render the: margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto in the css, i read that somewhere, and how can that be fixed?
