I'm open for a wide variety of ideas on this one:
I am taking an IGCSE Computing AS course this year, and the practical phase of this course involves that students should select a problem, the solution to which will enable them to demonstrate their skills at problem solving. The programming language that I have selected for this project is Visual Basic.
Any project ideas? Come on, anything!! I have a few ideas, but I want to get some feedback on this. Anything will help! Thanks in advance!

Find something that you use in another program and make a program that fills that need. Of coarse this will depend on the level your on in Visual Basic. I did the same thing and am making my own type of NotePad. happy.gif

It depends on your knowledge.

If you feel like you're capable of jumping in at the deep end, go for a big piece of software. If you can get it on SourceForge, that's even better.

Visual Basic~ are you using the .NET framework then?
If so, take advantage of it. Make a real nice GUI and show off.

As for "problem solving" how about some kind of scientific calculator? With cos, sin, tan, etc~

Like the Windows calculator.

Just out of curiosity, where are you from? AFAIK, AS level is only done in GB but I didn't get the opportunity to do programming at AS sad.gif
