Okay, so this is my first college essay.
Its only 3-4 pages on the effects of self esteem on consumerism.
My specific viewpoint is going to be that we go through what we buy stuff when we have low self esteem, sorta like a midlife crisis.
However, I have always used the 5 paragraph essay outline.
My English teachers give me this crap about "I'm preparing you for college."
As if.
So, my question is, how do you take notes and put them into a multipage essay?

nova, i didn't click that because i thought it was its a trap.

so it made me laugh even more.

the great thing about college is there is no set way to do things,
you could write a 5 paragraph paper and be the normal standard boring guy
or you can break it up into 20 if your feeling really out there.

sometimes i just write mine straight string of consciousness to really add that extra hmph. i'm crazy like that .

The idea is the same, only there is more of a body between the into and conclusion. the into and conclusion can be more then 1 paragraph.

Intro
(State thesis around here, specifically)

Body (could be 20 pages if you want.)

(State thesis, in another manner, somewhat generically)
Conclusion

Essay? I can do a technical report or scientific report, but that's about it. If I was forced to, this would be my choice:

@Nova, thanks for the homestar runner. classic

@Dillon - The 5 paragraph concept can be expanded to be used in a longer essay. Simply figure out what your main points should be and instead of writing one paragraph for reach point, write three or four. You can also make more points instead of the typical three that a normal paper would require. How about 5 major points? Writing three or four paragraphs per point would net you 15 - 20 paragraphs total. Double spaced, that's at least 5 pages.

Hope that helps
