Hi. I am working on a website.

This website I am making is a social networking type site.


I know php,css,html,javascript.

now I need to make a webpage that i s customizable.

Is there any suggestions on how to easily code a webpage that is customizable.


Like what I plan on doing is making a layout a default one for my users and in a edit mode they could change anything reposition anything resize any thing except the advertisements and also the navigation area and copyright area.

So my question is what's the best way to do this. I thought maybe I can create the layout and all that with my own art ect and then have a edit mode where the user can use their own art for buttons and many other things like tables ect and reposition the tables and resize them .

so I can code the repositon and resize in javascript but I am kinda stumped how I can saw those values in mysql database.

I want to be able to save the data my users added but yet I don't want to have to create a webpage for each user I mostly want to make one webpage that has a default layout and detects if the user has changed the settings which would be saved in mysql and if so it would grab the css values meaning the x and y positions of each elements and use the links to art they have stored on a other server to display new artwork for the layout.


What would be the best way to do this??? Also would this be better to be done with Ruby???

I do want to also make a custom media player like music and video players.


I also have been trying to figure out how I can make one layout and yet have it resize based on the users display settings/resolution so my website will be shown to any computer how it was meant to be displayed.

You can make the css values $PHP variables, & then load them when the users sign in. That way each layout can be customized to how the user saved them last.
